Usage limits

This Usage limit forms an integral part of the agreement between you and Contentful as applicable, that governs your use of the Contentful. Capitalized terms used but not defined below, shall have the meaning outlined in the agreement. If you do not agree with this usage limit, do not use any Contentful services and products.
The limits outlined below apply solely to current plans (Free and Lite launched on November 18th, 2024 and Premium launched on February 1st, 2023), while legacy plans are subject to the legacy usage limit. If your Service Order includes different limits from any of the ones below, then the Service Order takes precedence.
Utility limits

Additional API calls and asset bandwidth consumption are not allowed.
Additionally, the Free plan may only be used to test and learn about Contentful’s product (“Permitted Use Case”); it may not be used to support commercial use cases. Pursuant to the Terms of Service, we reserve the right to take corrective action, including but not limited to temporarily suspending or (when other options are unavailable) terminating your account if you do not adhere to using the Free plan in accordance with the Permitted Use Case.
Lite

An additional Lite space purchased provides additional utility limits:
API calls - 2,000,000 per month, per space
Asset bandwidth - 750 Gigabytes (GB) per month
Extra API calls will be billed at USD / EUR 5 per 1,000,000 API calls monthly. Extra asset bandwidth consumption will be billed at USD / EUR 0.15 per Gigabyte (GB) monthly. The fees apply per starting quota of API calls/GB. Contentful does not set a cap on extra API calls and asset bandwidth your organization can consume. Note that utility limits can only be exceeded if your organization has a valid credit card or other accepted payment method on record.
Premium & Enterprise

Spaces add the following additional quota every month:
Starter: 0 GB per month, per space
Standard: 750 GB per month, per space
Enterprise: 2,000 GB per month, per space
Templated: 100 GB per month, per space
API calls for Premium and Enterprise customers do not accrue overages, and are bound by our technical limits. Contentful does not set a cap on the asset bandwidth your organization can consume. Note that utility limits can only be exceeded if your organization has a valid credit card or other form of accepted payment method on record.
Function executions are bound by our technical limits: 1 million function executions per organization per month for Premium customers, and 5 million function executions per organization per month for Enterprise customers.
The usage of asset bandwidth is measured on a monthly basis. The usage is reset to zero on the first day of each new period. For example, if you signed up on the 15th, your usage period is set to be from the 15th to the 14th of a month.
Space and user limits for Free customers
Free organizations can only purchase additional spaces by upgrading to the Lite plan on the subscription page, located under the organizational settings of the Contentful web app. The Free plan includes the following limits:

Space and user limits for Lite customers
Lite organizations can purchase one additional space on the subscription page, located under the organizational settings of the Contentful web app. The Lite plan includes the following limits:

Space and user limits for Premium customers
Organizations with Premium contracts can purchase additional spaces through their sales representative and can add users directly via the web app.
One Starter space is included with every Premium plan. No additional Starter spaces can be added. Customers can add additional paid spaces as indicated on their Service Order.
Users are governed by the Premium plan purchased.

Organization creation limits
Note that each Free Contentful user can create a maximum of 1 organization. Paying users can create a maximum of 10 organizations. However, there is no limit on how many organizations a user can own. Ownership of an organization can be transferred between users after the organization is created.
Technical limits
Please note that use of Contentful is subject to system limits to ensure uninterrupted functioning of the service infrastructure. These limits are listed in the technical limits section of the developer documentation. If your service usage exceeds the limits listed above, we reserve the right to take corrective action, including, but not limited to, the throttling of our APIs, temporarily suspending or — when other options are unavailable — terminating your account. If you require higher limits, contact a dedicated account manager or reach out to our Customer Success Team to discuss available options.
Trial space limited use case
The Trial spaces (formerly known as Proof of Concept/PoC spaces) are available to customers on specific pricing plans. The following usage limitations apply to these spaces:
Trial spaces are intended for non-production development and testing purposes only and are limited to 30 days.
Trial spaces are free of charge, but count in your organization’s total usage of asset bandwidth, API calls, etc., which may result in an overage invoice.
SLAs do not apply to Trial spaces. All other terms of the Agreement do apply, including the Acceptable Use Policy.
Trial spaces can be converted into regular production spaces on the same organization subject to a signed new (or change) Service Order. Any fees will then apply as agreed in such a Service Order.
Contentful may apply technical restrictions to Trial spaces to enforce the above use conditions (such as: limiting user roles; limiting access to the Trial space; limiting IP address or email domain ranges used in connection with the space; throttling API calls and bandwidth; restricting CDN usage; requiring specific headers for API calls and, if Contentful suspects misuse of a Trial space, suspend or terminate such space).
Contentful reserves the right to discontinue offering Trial spaces at any time.
Regardless of the pricing plan, we reserve the right to take corrective action, including but not limited to the throttling of the service API for short periods, when the stability of the system is at risk.
