The Contentful Marketplace is a one-stop shop for current and prospective customers alike to browse the various partner integrations to the Contentful platform. Each of the integrations in the Contentful Marketplace help solve customer jobs to be done, at any scale, and are built natively in the Contentful platform using our App Framework

Contentful’s flexibility and ability to deliver content to any destination also enable our partners to build integrations outside of our platform, extending the value of composable, structured content to third-party tools and platforms, as well. 

Each month, the Contentful Ecosystem team, in collaboration with our Technology Partners, brings new integrations to market for our users to easily utilize third-party capabilities and customize their Contentful space. 

In this inaugural installment of our Integration Roundup, we’ll provide an overview of the various integrations launched at the beginning of 2024, and what benefits they bring to Contentful users.

AI Content Generator powered by Amazon Bedrock

The AI Content Generator powered by Amazon Bedrock app, available now on the Contentful Marketplace, allows users to create, rewrite, summarize, and translate content leveraging cutting-edge generative AI models available and accessible through Amazon Bedrock in an easy and secure manner. This app helps content producers reduce their lead time to publishing content while enhancing the quality and consistency of the content produced. 

Amazon Bedrock is a fully managed service that offers easy access to a choice of industry-leading large language models and other foundation models from AI21 Labs, Anthropic, Cohere, Meta, Stability AI, and Amazon, along with a broad set of capabilities that customers need to build generative AI applications — simplifying development while supporting privacy and security.

How does it work?

To understand what this new AI Content Generator is capable of, let’s take a look at a frequent task a content editor in Contentful may have — rewriting existing content to make it fit for another channel, e.g., to make it fit a smaller screen by shortening it. AI Content Generator powered by Amazon Bedrock can now do this task automatically.

First, the user opens an existing content entry. AI Content Generator powered by Amazon Bedrock is available in the sidebar.

When choosing “Rewrite,” a dialog asks the user to choose the fields for input and output, in this case “Body” and “Body Short,” respectively. The user is free to describe the modifications that should be done to the existing content, but in this case, chooses the pre-provided option “Shorter.” By choosing “Generate,” the user invokes Amazon Bedrock to perform the desired modification.

Finally, the user can modify the generated text and then choose to “Apply” the text to the specified output field.

Getting started using AI Content Generator powered by Amazon Bedrock is easy! First, sign up for Contentful, which is free. Next, install the AI Content Generator powered by Amazon Bedrock app by visiting the Contentful Marketplace and choosing “Install now.”

Resources to get you started

The installation dialog asks you for an AWS region where you want to use Amazon Bedrock, as well as an AWS access key ID and secret access key for authentication. To help you meet your organization’s security rules, we have published an AWS CloudFormation template that creates an AWS IAM user with the minimum privileges you need for this app. The credentials from this user can then be used in the app installation dialog.

Using generative AI at scale can become expensive. To prevent surprises in your AWS bill, we have published another CloudFormation template which deploys a budgeting application into your AWS account. You’re able to define a soft limit, which triggers an email notification, and a hard limit, which disables access to Amazon Bedrock entirely for the IAM user created above.

During app installation, you’re able to provide company-specific information such as branding guidelines which will always be applied when interacting with the app. At the very end of the installation dialog, make sure you assign the app to all content types where you may need it. This will enable the app in the sidebar of your content editing experience.

With the AI Content Generator powered by Amazon Bedrock, content teams unlock powerful tools to save time, reduce feedback loops, and increase their creativity. Contentful customers can use generative AI to generate content on demand, transform content to shift voice and tone, translate and localize content for global markets, and even ensure that content remains on brand. Generative AI also plays a critical role in eliminating the “blank page” problem, where a digital team spends more time figuring out where to start than actually creating great content. 

Bringing Amazon Bedrock to Contentful means that any digital team can now use a range of leading large language models to unlock their creativity, create more efficiently, and reach their customers in the most impactful way.

Ada AI Support Agent — powered by Contentful

Contentful users can write the best, most relevant content, but what use is it if customers can’t find the answers they are looking for quickly? Enter Ada, a leading AI-driven chat and search company, whose AI Agent can resolve customer queries automatically by using your existing content. Using Ada’s new Contentful integration, you can onboard this agent with content directly from your connected Contentful space. 

Ada’s AI Agent can immediately start resolving more than 70% of customer service inquiries. By connecting Ada to your other business systems using their no-code integrations, it can take action and perform tasks for your customers too. Ada pulls from your customer data and knowledge sources to generate unique and specific responses to customer inquiries, maximizing resolution. It can be launched on all of your channels, and resolve customer inquiries in dozens of languages. 

When needed, Ada can bring in a human support agent via email, messaging, or a callback request. The AI Agent passes relevant customer details and context, reducing effort and helping agents perform at their best. Ada’s performance can be measured and coached to continually improve with Ada’s AI-powered insights, content recommendations, and guidance capabilities. Ada uses natural language to ensure that customers get the quickest and best possible resolution, every time. 

How to get started

Onboarding Ada with Contentful data is a breeze. First, in the Ada dashboard, customers will configure their Contentful connector under Integrations.

Then, enter your Contentful Content Delivery API token (details here), the Space ID you want to connect, and the top-level content type you want Ada to use for resolving queries. This content type should be specific to your knowledge base or help center articles. Unsure of how to setup your Contentful knowledge base? Connect Contentful

Using these details, Ada then pulls all relevant content in your Contentful space to use when training the AI Agent. You can see these entries listed under the Knowledge section in Ada. Clicking on an entry here will take you back to the Contentful app to edit the content, when needed. Whenever a new piece of content is published in Contentful, it will update in Ada, ensuring your AI Agent always has access to the most up-to-date information.

Users can then test the agent and new content directly in the Ada dashboard by entering natural language queries. Ada will now generate responses based on Contentful content.

Ada’s responses can be coached using customized instructions. For example, let’s say you want Ada to respond with a bulleted list of steps for a customer to complete to resolve their query. You can create these rules under the Guidance menu in Ada’s dashboard.

As you can see, these guidance rules are applied to all responses immediately, allowing you to quickly adjust how Ada responds to your customers and ensure the best possible experience.

The Contentful integration for Ada is just another example of how composable content in the Contentful platform can be leveraged across various destinations for a nearly unlimited set of use cases, including using Ada’s cutting-edge support and service technology and generative AI to quickly and easily resolve customer support issues at scale.
