Contentful Community Code of Conduct
Thank you for being a part of the Contentful Community!
This Community Code of Conduct applies to all aspects of our community, including the Contentful Community Discord, our open-source repositories, virtual and in-person events, meetups, our forums, and/or one-on-one communications with other community members.
At Contentful, we aim to provide a welcoming and secure environment where diversity is celebrated and respected. This includes all forms of diversity, such as gender identity and expression, sexuality, disability, physical appearance, socioeconomic status, educational background, programming language preference, ethnicity, nationality, age, and religious affiliation.
By accepting this Code of Conduct, you commit to follow the guidelines outlined below. Anyone who violates our Code of Conduct may be sanctioned or expelled from these spaces at the discretion of the Contentful Moderation team.
Our Contentful Community Moderators
You may contact any of our Community Moderators to report a Code of Conduct violation.
- Email us at Developer Relations Team.

Our Community Moderators will:
- Respond to violations in teams of two or more.
- Respond as promptly as possible to reports of violations.
- Consider all perspectives by talking to those affected and researching any underlying issues, especially if they lack personal experience.
- Excuse themselves or be excused from handling an incident if they are listed as a possible Code of Conduct violator.
By being a part of the Contentful Community, you are expected to comply with the following guidelines:
Approach interactions with thoughtfulness and care
To create a welcoming and inclusive environment, it is recommended to use non-gender-specific language when addressing groups of people. Some examples include "folks," "people," or "friends."
If you're not certain about someone's preferred name or pronouns, you can check their Discord profile or you can ask.
Collaboration over conflict
In the Contentful community, we strive together to solve problems and celebrate successes. We also understand that working with technology can cause a lot of frustration! In these situations, remember that everyone in the Contentful community is a person who deserves respect at all times.
Please remember that our community interacts and discusses topics asynchronously due to our global presence. We will collaborate to solve issues as promptly as possible.
Mistakes happen even with good intentions, and unintended consequences can arise. When faced with criticism, approach with an open mind and work collaboratively to find a resolution.
Represent the community in a positive, professional way
As a member of the Contentful Community, you represent the community and agree to support the Code of Conduct. If you witness any behavior that does not meet our expected conduct, please inform the Community Moderators.
Be considerate and respectful of different linguistic backgrounds in our community discussions. Although our primary language is English, please remember that not everyone is a native English speaker or writer.

Resolving Code of Conduct Violations
If someone has violated this Code of Conduct or made you feel uncomfortable or unsafe, here's what you should do next:
In the moment
- If you're not safe, find a safe location. Disconnect if it happened online. Tell someone you trust.
As soon as possible
- If you feel safe, have a private conversation with the person involved and try to come up with a solution together. If you do not feel safe, please contact a Community Moderator promptly.
After the incident
We take reports of Code of Conduct violations seriously. When reporting a violation, please provide as many details as possible, such as:
- Any contact or identifying information about the person who allegedly violated the Code of conduct.
- The time, place, and details of the alleged violation.
- Whether the situation is ongoing.
- Whether there were additional witnesses or other people involved.
- Whether or not you would prefer to have your complaint kept anonymous in the situation.
Moderators will work with you to evaluate what happened, inform the person(s) in question that a violation was reported, and establish the next steps in resolving the issue.
Our Community Moderators will assess, notify, and resolve reported violations promptly with your collaboration. Moderators can dismiss bad-faith reports and those intended to suppress valid criticism will not receive a response.
Enforcement
- Participants must stop any inappropriate behavior immediately, regardless of their understanding or opinion of the reported behavior.
- Participants violating our Code of Conduct may be penalized or expelled at the discretion of Community Moderators.
- If there is no Community Moderator present at an event, the organizer will request that violators exit and then notify the Community Moderators for further review.
- We always have a moderator available to address any disruptive behavior during events. If moderators are not available, Contentful staff or event organizers will intervene.
Additional Guidelines
- Avoid deleting posts or comments in a group, except for those mistakenly posted in the wrong group. Deleting can disrupt ongoing discussions.
- The Code of Conduct applies to all Contentful Community spaces and events. If you experience harassment by a Contentful Community participant outside of these spaces, you can still report it to the moderators. We take all reports of harassment seriously and will take appropriate action if necessary. Our moderators have the right to exclude individuals from the community and events based on their behavior towards others, whether inside or outside of our spaces.
- We respect the privacy of harassment victims and won't disclose their names without consent. We may name individuals reported for harassment or caution other parties if it aids in safety.
